This article aims to analyze the occupation of Vila Irmã Dulce in Teresina Piauí, in the 1990s, and the relationship between the struggle for housing, emphasizing women as protagonists within this area and the limitations imposed by the society. patriarchal. The city is discussed here as a space of class, gender inequality, with the increase of the urban poor due to the structure in force in capitalist society. Therefore, the methodology and qualitative approach predominate. Documentary research, based on periodicals of the time, wasused to collect information. In this direction, we seek to understand the meanings of the speeches of the investigated subjects about the occupation of Vila Irmã Dulce in Teresina.
