This research describes the role of Chilean theater that committed to the
popular project until its triumph, where we wondered, What was the role of the
Theater committed to Popular Unity? A specific sector of theatre joined social
effervescence during the 1960s. The theater within the government acted as a
containment of sedition through humor, under revivals of previous works with more
softened elements in the criticism, in addition to experiencing a cultural explosion
of artists occupying the streets, in a highly convulsed society that transited
socialism.
