Las mutuales fueron trascendentales para la organización de nuestra clase trabajadora, desde 1850 estas se fundaron para enfrentar los efectos perjudiciales del capitalismo. La “Sociedad Tipográfica de Valparaíso” constituida en 1855 fue la primera mutual porteña y perteneció a un importante movimiento artesanal. El objetivo de nuestra investigación es evidenciar cómo la actividad mutualista, impulsó la formación de la identidad social y la conciencia política entre la clase obrero-artesanal. Además, analizará los estatutos de la asociación tipográfica para comprender sus ideales y organización. Metodológicamente se utilizaron fuentes primarias como documentos y memorias, junto investigaciones especializadas en historia obrera.
