No. 11 (2025)The eleventh issue of REVUELTAS. Revista Chilena de Historia Social Popular reaffirms the horizon that has guided its trajectory: to consolidate an editorial space for the dissemination of research that, from multiple scales and approaches, addresses the social processes led by popular sectors in Latin America. In this spirit, our journal aims to be a meeting point for diverse perspectives and disciplines—such as social history, historical sociology, cultural studies, and other related fields—focused on the study of social conflicts, organizational forms, and institutional transformations in various regional contexts. We are pleased to share this issue, which brings together contributions from different countries across the continent, thus reinforcing the regional character of the journal.
The core of this edition is the second part of the dossier “Past and Present of Teachers’ Organizations”, whose detailed overview is presented by its coordinators, Adriana Migliavacca and Christian Matamoros. This second installment, continuing the work published in issue 10, gathers research primarily focused on local or provincial scales, with an emphasis on organizational processes and conflicts of the current century. Through case studies from Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile, the articles examine repertoires of action, internal debates, disputes over the meaning of public education, and tense relations with state apparatuses in different national contexts, identifying both continuities and transformations in collective action and in the links between teachers’ unions, social movements, and public policies.

No. 10 (2024)The presentation of this new issue of REVUELTAS, the tenth since its founding, invites us to reflect on the trajectory of our publication, addressing achievements and challenges. Since its first volume, our publication has been committed to being a critical and inclusive space, focused on analyzing and debating the experiences and struggles of the popular world, with an emphasis on the local and global issues embedded in its historical trajectories. The thematic and geographic scope we have achieved over these five years reflects the collective effort to consolidate an inclusive and diverse space for research and academic dialogue.

Popular Protagonism and the Interruption of the Democratic Process: The Thousand Days of the Popular Unity and the Civil-Military Coup”
No. 8 (2023)The commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup d'état urges us to reexamine historically the violent interruption of the Chilean democratic process and its profound impact on society. The long path forged by the popular movement and its crystallization in the Popular Unity represents a moment of special significance in our history. When abruptly defeated, it altered the face of society, leaving to this day a significant part of its institutional framework, posing a serious challenge to the popular movement.
The importance of popular involvement within the experience of the Popular Unity allows us to foresee challenges and possibilities for historical action in the present. Half a century after the coup, questions regarding the role, function, characteristics, and projections of the popular movement become highly relevant, especially as the popular uprising of 2019 and the ongoing constitutional process prompt us to reflect on historical ruptures and continuities, as well as the scope and limitations of the social action of popular classes.

No. 7 (2023)El presente número de REVUELTAS, Revista Chilena de Historia Social Popular, se inaugura en un año marcado por dos acontecimientos que funcionan como una especie de “bisagra” entre el pasado y futuro en la historia de Chile: los 50 años del golpe de Estado y la posibilidad de una nueva Constitución que desbanque a la actual, elaborada bajo la dictadura cívico militar comandada por Augusto Pinochet. Dos acontecimientos que tienen relación con la instauración violenta del modelo neoliberal, y también, posibles rutas a su desinstalación. A la vez, la conmemoración de los 50 años del golpe de Estado permitirá que nuevas memorias en torno a la Unidad Popular, la dictadura y la transición a la democracia circulen y sean parte del debate público. En ese sentido, las y los historiadoras tendremos una importante tarea para entregar claves comprensivas sobre nuestro presente y pasado.

No. 4 (2021)El presente número de la revista REVUELTAS es expresión del creciente escenario de politización y transformaciones políticas y sociales en América Latina. En medio de las manifestaciones de Colombia y la inauguración de la convención constituyente en Chile, se suman a las esperanzas provocadas por la elección de Pedro Castillo, el primer campesino elegido presidente del Perú. Estas expectativas de protagonismo popular y feminismo en movimiento se reflejan los siguientes artículos y reflexiones realizadas en esta ocasión, tanto por autoras y autores de Chile, como de Argentina y Perú. El horizonte de convertirnos en una revista de Historia Social, con una mirada latinoamericana y vinculada estrechamente a los movimientos sociales, comienza a dar sus primeros pasos.
Esperamos que con esta entrega se vaya pavimentando el camino de debate y colaboración entre historiadoras e historiadores sociales de Latinoamérica, tomando el pulso a este contexto de transformaciones y movimientos por la dignidad popular.
