"Cármen Baeza against Juan Matte Aldunate for Collection of pesos". Reading notes to investigate domestic work through a lawsuit. Santiago de Chile 1883-1886.

The transcription of a case file of a lawsuit for the collection of servant's pesos by Cármen Baeza sued Juan Matte Aldunate is presented. Through a critical reading of the judicial source that contextualizes it in processes of historical change, it is revealed that the lawsuit in question reveals subaltern voices, as well as particular aspects of interpersonal relationships in nineteenth-century domestic work, as well as illuminating a slow process of change towards relations remunerated in money and conflicting conceptions of the value of work in the second half of the nineteenth century.
