The first struggles of the Federation of Tertiary Students in Argentina during the last democratic transition (1983-1985)

This paper anticipates advances of the research that will lead to my Doctoral Thesis on the recent history of Higher Teacher Training Institutions in the currently called Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In particular, it deals with the emergence of the first Federation of Tertiary Students between 1983 and 1985. First, it reconstructs the rhythms and singularities of the first struggles faced by the student teachers' movement in post-dictatorial contexts. Then, it focuses on the passage of this emerging movement towards its institutionalization as a student federation. Finally, it concludes by reflecting on the relevance of this process for the recovery of institutional democracies in the sub-circuit of teacher training belonging to Higher Education.
